A rural Jackson County couple's argument turned bloody Monday when a woman allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife, police said.
Laurie Bennett, 50, of the 7000 block of Rogue River Drive, between Grants Pass and Rogue River, is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, Oregon Judicial Department and jail records show.
Bennett's bail was initially set at about $1 million, but that amount was reduced to $50,000 Tuesday during her arraignment in Jackson County Circuit Court, court records show.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the Bennetts' home for a report of a domestic dispute at about 5 p.m. Monday, a Jackson County Sheriff's Office press release said.
Upon their arrival, deputies found Bennett's husband Ray Bennett, 52, had been stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife, the release said.
Ray Bennett was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been released after treatment, the press release said.
Oregon Judicial Department records show Laurie Bennett has no criminal history in Jackson County.
