Charlotte Beeson Toon, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Fairfield, Calif.

She was born February 23, 1922 to Edna and Elton Beeson in Talent, Ore. Her father passed away in her early childhood. Her mother was a schoolteacher. They lived with her grandmother, Irene Conger Wells, who was superintendent of the Jackson county poor farm in Oregon. She was a teenager when her mother remarried and Smith E. Trent came into her life.

Charlotte moved to LA and worked at Lockheed during WWII. She married Air Force Sergeant Robert C. Toon in 1944 in Ventura, Calif. and lovingly raised three children throughout the US, Hawaii (then a Territory), and Canada. As her children grew, she began working for the Fairfield Unified School District (California) where she was a secretary into her seventies. She delighted in organizing activities, creating hundreds of standardized forms for school and organizational use, pursuing her family genealogy, and collecting hippos.

She was involved with the Wednesday Club of Suisun, Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, California Retired Teachers Association, and the Card Group That Does Not Play Cards. She volunteered tirelessly for The Assist-A-Grad Scholarship Foundation.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Priscilla Lindgren, and her son, Bob Toon, Jr. She is survived by her eldest child, Pamela (Pat) Nourot; four grandchildren, Brian (Beth) Maeyama, Arthur (Andrea) Nourot, Kim Maeyama, and Tianna (Jim) Carter; her ten great-grandchildren, and Lee Ohana.

Per her wishes, she was cremated by the Bryan-Baker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Her family will lay her to rest at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Stearns Cemetery in Talent.
