  • Supporters of a ballot initiative that would require labels on genetically engineered foods will show a documentary and welcome celebrity activists in Ashland this evening.
Activist Elizabeth Kucinich and actor Bill Pullman will appear at a screening of the documentary "GMO OMG" at 6:30 p.m. at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. The screening is free and will be followed by a question-and-answer period and reception, organizers said.
Kucinich is an environmental and food safety activist and is the director of policy at the Center for Food Safety. She is also an executive producer of the documentary, which explores possible health and environmental risks posed by large agribusiness corporations. On her official Facebook page, she reported she was heading to Oregon to visit her friend Pullman on the set of his current movie, then appear in Ashland.
Pullman is passionate about the issue of GMO labeling, say supporters of the Yes on 92 campaign. Variety reported last week that Pullman was in Oregon on the set of “Brothers in Law,” a comedy produced by Lorne Michaels.
