Four Day Weekend: It's the start of a three-day weekend, but why not make it four by taking some time off to hang out and hear some music Friday in The Commons' Pear Blossom Park in downtown Medford? Bring a lunch and listen to Rod Petrone, known for his original acoustic guitar compositions, as he performs from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Can't make it Friday? Then check out the Qi Brothers, who play what's been described as "classic Americana with tropical flavor," at the same time, same place on Saturday.
Celebrate the Arts: Art, crafts, food, demonstrations and more will be featured from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the 18th annual Outdoor Festival in Jacksonville. The free activities will take place at the Historic Courthouse, on East C and North Fifth streets, and the Art Presence Art Center, 206 N. Fifth St.
    Saturday
Flying High: Dave Bloomsness and Robert Black will discuss their experience as passengers aboard NASA's Stratopheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at North Mountain Park's Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. After the free talk, visitors can join the Southern Oregon Skywatchers for a peek through telescopes.
Local Tastes: Check out a variety of local wines, beers and foods at the annual Taste of Harry & David, held at the company's Country Village store from 12 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The store is at 1314 Center Drive, Medford. Cost is $15 per person, but you can cut that to $10 and help a good cause by bringing five cans of food to donate to ACCESS.
    Sunday
OSF Green Show: Artists will give a free performance at 6:45 p.m. Sunday on the bricks at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland. The group, consisting of Brooklyn-based musicians and actors performing in OSF's musical production "Family Album," will lead a performance with funk instrumentals, lullabies, vocals and improvisation.
