Pearl May Walker, 94, of Gold Hill, Ore. passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was born April 23, 1920 in Willard, Mont.
The fourth daughter of Ward and Minnie Wills, the family moved to Vancouver, Wash. after devastating dust storms hit Montana. Eventually the family settled in Rogue River, Ore. where her parents built and operated The Homestead Cafe for many years.
In 1939 Pearl married John Delos Walker of Gold Hill, where the settled and lived together for 66 years on the beautiful banks of the Rogue River. They both enjoyed outdoor life including fishing in the mountain lakes and on the river, and hunting in local mountains and Northeastern Oregon. Pearl was a wonderful homemaker and pie maker, and an active volunteer with the Gold Hill Health Unit, Loaves and Fishes and the Gold Hill Historical Society and she was devoted to her family and friends.
Pearl is survived by her two daughters, Dixie Herrmann (Fred) and Linda Turner (Bob); brother, Lawrence Wills (Pat); four grandsons, Brent Herrmann (Michael), Bryan Herrmann (Lisa), Chad Turner (Jennifer), and Craig Turner (Carrie); seven great-grandchildren, Brad and Brandon Herrmann and Mattison, Makena, Haley, Cassidy and Ryan Turner. Pearl was also blessed with many caring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, John Delos Walker; son, Richard "Dick" Walker; parents, Ward and Minnie Wills; and her sisters, Eleanor, Mildred and Florence.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Perl Funeral Hme, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, OR 97504.
