EAGLE POINT — Crater demonstrated sharp passing and good communication in rolling to a straight-set victory over Eagle Point in Midwestern League volleyball Tuesday.

The Comets defeated the Eagles, 25-9, 25-9, 25-20, at the Eagle Point gym.

Nicole Morse, a Crater senior outside, played a strong all-around match with 10 kills, three aces and five digs.

The Comets (9-4, 4-1 MWL) also received five kills and one block from senior middle Makayla York.

For Eagle Point (2-10, 0-6), Ryleigh Gainey came up with eight digs and eight assists and Emmalee Stevens had 11 digs and two aces. Miyah Smith paced the Eagles’ front line with five kills to go with five digs.

“We were bigger at the net,” said Crater coach Leaf Jensen. “Eagle Point was scrappy. They played harder than us at some stretches.”

ASHLAND 3, CHURCHILL 0: At Ashland, Myla Norvell had 15 kills and 19 digs in a Midwestern League win for Ashland.

Soleil Heller added 36 assists and Julia Senestraro 17 digs for the Grizzlies (5-3, 4-2 MWL).

Ashland recorded 15 aces against Churchill (5-6, 4-2).

SOUTH EUGENE 3, NORTH MEDFORD 0: North Medford could not match up with a bigger South Eugene front line and dropped a SWC home match, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18.

Kiley Pauck led the North attack with eight kills and Jenna Sandstrom added three kills and two blocks. Anna Lorenz came up with a team-high 16 digs and Taelor Mayben pounded four aces for the Black Tornado (5-8, 2-2 SWC).

South Eugene (7-4, 2-2) got strong play from 6-foot-2 sophomore outside Taylor Williams.

GRANTS PASS 3, SHELDON 2: At Eugene, Grants Pass defeated Sheldon, 25-15, 27-25, 21-25, 22-25, 15-13, in Southwestern Conference play.

The Cavers improved to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in league. The Irish fell to 5-5 and 3-3.

KLAMATH UNION 3, PHOENIX 2: At Phoenix, Klamath Union won the Skyline Conference match, 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, and 15-13.

Kassidy Calhoun had 19 digs, Lindsey Burns 11 kills and Sophia Tringolo three aces for the Pirates (4-6, 1-1 Sky). Anna Ellis was 14-for-14 serving against the Pelicans (7-1, 2-0).

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 3 ILLINOIS VALLEY 0: At Cave Junction, Allison Winter lead Cascade Christian with 35 assists in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-11 District 5 win.

Eeklyn Magee chipped in 12 kills and Caroline McMahon 11 kills for the Challengers (14-0, 2-0 Dist. 5).

ST. MARY'S 3, ROGUE RIVER 0: At Rogue River, St. Mary's won the Southern Cascade League match, 25-17, 25-10, 25-18.

Ashley Rietmann was 15 of 15 serving with three aces, Aessa Catt went 15-for-15 from behind the line and Madi Christensen and Hallie Shean recorded eight kills and seven kills respectively for the Crusaders (4-8, 1-0 SCL). MacKenzie Addington chipped in nine digs against Rogue River (2-6, 0-2).

TRIAD 3, ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 1: Triad won the Mountain Valley League match, 25-11, 24-26, 25-21, 25-18 to improve to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.

The Red Tail Hawks dropped to 2-3, 1-1 in the MVL.
