If you've ever been interested in the buzz about beekeeping, the Southern Oregon Research & Extension Center is hosting a class in April.

The Art and Science of Keeping Bees in the Rogue Valley class will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the extension service, 569 Hanley Road, Central Point. The class costs $45 to attend, and registration is required by Friday, April 14, limited to the first 100 people.

There will be presentations and hands-on demonstrations. Guest speakers will include Dr. Dewey Caron, emeritus professor for the University of Delaware's department of entomology and wildlife ecology, and affiliate professor at Oregon State University's horticulture department, beekeeper Tom Chester and Oregon Master Beekeeper program official Karessa Torgerso.

Attendees are asked to bring a lunch and protective bee gear, such as a hat, veil or suit, if possible. For more information, visit http://www.southernoregonbeekeepers.org/news-and-events/soba-beginning-beekeeper-class.
