A Sutherlin man was arrested Thursday by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office after he had been soliciting with what he believed to be a child for sexual contact via the internet, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

Shoemaker II had made arrangements to meet with what he thought was a child, but he was met by law enforcement instead when he arrived at the location, the release said.

Shoemaker was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Douglas County Jail.

Shoemaker is charged with online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor, according to police.

The Roseburg Police Department assisted in the case.
