Marie Josephine Ziemba, 86, longtime resident of Ashland, Oregon, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 in her home. Marie was born December 31, 1930 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the daughter of Omer and Mary Diederichs and was the beloved wife of the late Thomas G. Ziemba.
Marie had a special gift for working with the elderly. She worked as a registered nurse and was director of nursing at the Rogue Valley Manor for 17 years before retiring.
Marie dedicated her life to her Catholic faith and enjoyed pilgrimages to many countries. Additionally, Marie enjoyed baking, gardening, and producing many wonderful fruits and vegetables off her Ashland property.
Marie is survived by her five children, Thomas D. Ziemba of Ashland; Diana McIntyre of Sparks, Nevada; Michael Ziemba of Talent; Carol Scott of Salem, Ore.; and Annette Udom of Honolulu, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Rudelpha Paraschuk of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and Rose Willment of British Columbia, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial Eucharistic celebration of Marie's life will be held at noon Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland followed by a reception at the church. A Rosary will be said at 11:30 a.m. prior to the memorial.
