Twittering

OK, I'll admit I'm not the most tech-savvy guy in the world (no smart-aleck responses from the peanut gallery or my kids, please), but I've taken the big leap and signed up for a Twitter account. Now I need to figure out what exactly I do with it.

I've read some Twitter for Dummies stuff, but I think I need Twitter for Real Dummies. From what I've read, you can use Twitter to stay in touch with people who have like interests or who are from the same area or even people you work with (yeah, I'm sure that's what the newsroom employees want, more fascinating notes from me).

I think my confusion is an old media-new media thing. It's hard to admit that I'm "old" anything, but looks like I'm there. Old and not too proud to ask for help.

So if there are any other Twitterers out there, I'm available for Tweets -- user name mteditor.  Any good Medford-area groups or news groups to connect with? Any ideas at all about how Twitter can be used for more than just telling people what you had for lunch (soup and salad at the Red Lion). Anyone who can tell me why I'm doing this?

Help!
