Jackson County Fair
The 2017 Jackson County Fair continues through Sunday, July 16, at The Expo in Central Point. Look for 4-H and FFA competitions, creative arts and carnival rides. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 14-15, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 16. Fair admission is $10, free for ages 11 and younger and 76 and older. Live music in the Lithia Amphitheater includes rock bands Everclear and Smash Mouth on July 14, and comedian Gabriel Iglesias on July 15. Reserved concert seats are $30, $35 or $40 and available at attheexpo.com. Lawn seating is included in fair admission. Parking is free.
Howiee's Summertime Circus Spectacular
Hellzapoppin' Circus Sideshow Revue, along with burlesque dancers, aerial silk dancers, live rock music by Haywood Macabre and the Coffins, fire breathers and fire poi dancers will perform from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, in the alley behind Howiee's on Front, 16 N. Front St., Medford. Look for vendors, a glass blower, carnival games, a Ninkasi beer truck and concessions. Admission is free. See facebook.com/howieesonfront for details.
UB40 Legends Ali, Astro & Mickey
English reggae and pop band UB40's founders Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue reunite to bring back the sound of their original hits at 6:45 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the Britt Pavilion, 350 S. First St., Jacksonville. Improvisational alt-rockers Matisyahu & Raging Fyah will open the show. Tickets are $66 for standing room only, $64 for reserved seating, $45 for lawn seating, $35 for ages 12 and younger, and can be purchased at brittfest.org, by calling 800-882-7488, or at the box office, 216 W. Main St., Medford. No outside alcohol will be permitted.
'The Drowsy Chaperone'
When a middle-aged, asocial musical theater fan plays a recording of his favorite production, "The Drowsy Chaperone," the fictitious show comes to life on stage at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, First and Hargadine streets, Ashland. John Stadelman plays the man, Roger DeLaurier of Pacific Conservatory Theatre directs. OCT's large cast includes such favorites as Gretchen Rumbaugh, Galloway Stevens, Scott Ford, Suzanne Seiber and Lucas Blair. The show runs through Sept. 3. Mississippi singer, songwriter and guitarist Paul Thorn and his band will play his signature mix of blues, country and rock at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at The Rogue Theatre, 143 S.E.
