AGE: Hilo is a distinguished older gentleman, looking for a wonderful home to retire in. At 6 years old, he’s past all the puppy nonsense and ready for a home that will provide him with the attention he craves.

PERSONALITY: Because his previous owner left him alone often, he climbed the fence in search of companionship. So, he will do best in a home where he is not left outside by himself. Crate training is a great alternative.

HIGHLIGHTS: While at the shelter, Hilo has done well with female dogs his size that are social. He is generally well-mannered and enjoys going for walks. He’s perfect for a retired person looking for a sweet, retired companion.

AVAILABLE: At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., between Talent and Phoenix, open 7 days a week.

COST: Hilo’s adoption fee is $95, and includes a free in-home training and a wellness visit at a local veterinarian office. Hilo is neutered.
