SALEM — Skiing season in Oregon began today as Mt. Hood and Mt. Bachelor opened their runs.

Mt. Hood Meadows opened three lifts — Buttercup, Easy Rider and Daisy — this morning, while Mt. Bachelor is operating just one lift, Sunshine Accelerator, which accesses easier terrain and some rails.

Two additional lifts at Mt. Bachelor are expected to open Saturday, according to the Statesman Journal.

Mt. Ashland has set Dec. 10 as its target opening date. Mount Hood Skibowl plans to open its Snow Tube and Adventure Park on Saturday and Sunday. Timberline Lodge is already open on a limited basis.
