A Klamath Falls man missing for more than two years has been found dead and authorities are investigating the circumstances of his passing.

Brett Farmer had been missing since Aug. 23, 2014, and the Klamath County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday his remains had been recovered.

Detective Nick Kennedy, who took the initial report, said Oregon State Police is now leading the investigation of Farmer's death. OSP investigators were not immediately available for comment.

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Farmer was last seen leaving his girlfriend's residence after a fight and his vehicle was later found abandoned at a ranch on Long Lake Road, west of Klamath Falls.

Those close to Farmer said he was feeling suicidal at the time as he had recently quit his job and his vehicle was being repossessed. An autopsy is expected to confirm Farmer's cause of death.
