A Phoenix man is facing charges after allegedly stealing an ATV valued at $3,199 and trading it for a 2-inch ball of heroin.
Darren Lynn Graham, 34, of the 3700 block of Colver Road was due to be arraigned Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of second-degree burglary, unauthorized use of a vehicle, first-degree theft and second-degree theft. The court issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear. He is also wanted in other cases.
On Jan. 17, Graham — a former employee of Quail Run Vineyards outside Talent — allegedly returned to the property without permission, entered a barn and took a 2004 Honda ATV. He loaded the ATV into his pickup and drove to a location on Bradford Way in Medford, where he traded the vehicle for the ball of heroin, according to an affidavit by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
On Jan. 31, Graham was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for outstanding warrants on other cases, the affidavit said.
While he was being audio- and videotaped, Graham confessed to taking the ATV from his former employer and trading it for heroin, the affidavit said.
On Feb. 2, Graham was released on his own recognizance.
In 2013, he was convicted of methamphetamine possession after a jail deputy found a methamphetamine smoking pipe hidden in Graham's underwear when he was being processed at the jail for another crime, according to court records.
In addition to being wanted in the ATV case, Graham has warrants out for his arrest for a 2015 driving under the influence of intoxicants case and a 2015 reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants case. In the second case, an officer arrested Graham after he was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
In 2016, he was charged with criminal driving with a suspended license and giving false information to a police officer after he allegedly pretended to be his brother during a traffic stop.
Graham was arrested again in 2016 for allegedly driving with a suspended license and possessing heroin, and had another arrest that year for methamphetamine possession and second-degree theft after he was allegedly caught shoplifting, according to court records.
