An annual program honoring military veterans will return to Eagle Point National Cemetery from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, May 29.

The 2017 National Cemetery Memorial Day program will include flag displays, a Scottish bagpipe band, a rifle salute and flyovers from the 173rd Fighter Wing out of Kingsley Field, and from Stearman biplanes, according to a news release.

Diane Strong-Summerhays of the Southern Oregon Jazz Orchestra will perform the national anthem.

Speakers will include U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, state Rep. Sal Esquivel and Mark Dalton, retired U.S. Army veteran. Attendance is expected to exceed 2,400 people, the release said.

Prior to the event, students from Scenic Middle School will gather at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. Friday, May 26, to place flags on 21,000 graves.
