A former Pendleton school district superintendent will take over as principal of Eagle Point High School, according to a radio station report in Pendleton.

Andy Kovach, who ended his term early as chief executive officer for Pendleton School District in February, will be the third principal of EPHS in the past two years. Former Principal Jennifer Whitehead resigned earlier this month for undisclosed reasons — she took over the position following Tom McGuire's resignation in 2015.

Kovach served six years as Pioneer Elementary School principal and more than seven years as Ontario High School principal in Ontario before becoming Pendleton School District superintendent.

The Pendleton School Board accepted Kovach’s resignation in April after meeting with him three times behind closed doors regarding his job performance within eight months into his tenure, the East Oregonian reports.

EPHS had about 1,100 students, 50 certified staff, 34 support staff and three administrators, according the school’s 2016 executive summary.

Allen Barber, Eagle Point School District human resources director, didn’t respond to inquiries about the reported hiring.
