Veteran Oregon Shakespeare Festival marketing manager Bob Hackett has joined Travel Southern Oregon. After 19 years developing regional theater at OSF, Hackett will focus on increasing tourism activity in Southern Oregon. Hackett earned bachelor's degrees in English and French at Dartmouth College, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Montana, where his thesis poetry collection was "Jailhouse Springs." He was a visiting instructor at Oregon State University and Willamette University prior to joining OSF. He joined Travel Southern Oregon as a board member in 2015.

Local Pita Pit franchisees Dave and Doneta Thomason received the Pita Pit Rookie of the Year award at the brand's Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, conference. The Thomasons were among three franchisees — out of 600 global locations — who received awards at the event. The Thomasons grew one location into six within 12 months.

Shae Johns, president and CEO of Southern Oregon Goodwill, has been named to the Goodwill Industries International board. She will also be a member of the Conference of Executives Executive Council. Johns’ term is two years with the option to renew for a third year. She will serve with 31 other board members. Johns joined Goodwill in 2011 and has been in her present role since 2014, overseeing six counties and more than 300 employees.
