A Central Point man has been identified as one of two people killed in an ultralight plane crash in eastern Washington.

Bonnie "Joe" Wallace, 70, of Central Point and Eric Sarchet of Everett, Washington, were found dead Sunday morning near Wells Dam in Douglas County, Washington, among the wreckage of a Northwing tandem ultralight aircraft with an 80-horsepower engine, according to Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal and local media reports. Some reports linked Wallace to a Henderson, Nevada, address.

Chelan County search-and-rescue crews began looking for Sarchet and Wallace Saturday evening after they failed to return to the Chelan Airport, but the first night's helicopter search was unsuccessful. Rescuers were able to narrow the search to a rural area in neighboring Douglas County based on coordinates from a cellphone signal from one of the plane's occupants.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
