I see that something new is going on at Bear Creek Park next to the skate park. I tried looking at the Medford parks website, but there is no information there about what is happening. So my question is: What are they building at Bear Creek Park?

— Adam H., Medford

This is actually an easy question to answer for the Since You Asked team, Adam, because it was recently reported in the Mail Tribune and it's been on the city website.

We can understand how you might have missed it, considering all the other stuff going on in the world and in Medford.

As you may have noticed, the fencing and the excavation work are next to Fire Station No. 3 at the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Highland Drive.

We know the suspense is killing you, Adam, so we'll stop beating around the bush. The work you've been seeing is preparation for construction of a new $4,076,566 fire station.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held July 13.

The new fire station will be built to the south of the existing station, and it will be financed from $38 million in bonds that also built fire stations No. 2 and No. 4, a police station and improvements at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
