Felony arrests

Assault — Harvey Leland Ellis, 65, no known address. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Ellis Thursday on a felony charge of second-degree assault, and on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and harassment. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Thursday on $100,000 bail.

Supplying Contraband — Lacie Marie West, 21, no known address. Medford police arrested West on a felony charge of supplying contraband, a misdemeanor charge of possessing methamphetamine and on misdemeanor warrants for failing to appear in court on previous charges of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and reckless driving. She was booked in the jail and released Thursday because of overcrowding.

Vehicle Theft — Joshua Heath Lanear, 38, of the 200 block of Taylor Avenue, Talent. Talent police arrested Lanear Thursday on a felony charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended. He was lodged in jail Thursday on $30,000 bail.

Criminal Mischief — Curtis James Carr, 30, no known address. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Carr Thursday on a felony count of first-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor charges of third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree theft, reckless driving and driving while suspended, and on misdemeanor warrants for failing to appear in court on previous charges of possessing methamphetamine, possessing heroin, failing to register as a sex offender on his birthday, failing to perform the duties of a driver to an injured person, fourth-degree assault, driving while suspended, attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless endangering and attempting to elude police on foot. He was lodged in jail Thursday on $110,000 bail.

Drugs — Terry Robert Shermer, 31, of the 2000 block of Campus Drive, Medford. Medford police arrested Shermer Thursday on felony charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine; manufacturing and delivering meth, heroin and cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school; distributing and possessing oxycodone; possessing a Schedule I controlled substance and first-degree child neglect. He was lodged in jail Friday on more than $2.1 million bail.

Drugs — Zachary Michael Grant, 24, of the 6200 block of Ventura Lane, Central Point. On Thursday, Grant made his initial appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court on a felony charge of possessing heroin. He was booked in the jail and released Thursday on his own recognizance.

Drugs — Jodie Lynne Davis, 58, of the 6600 block of Pleasant Creek Road, Rogue River. On Thursday, Davis made her initial court appearance on a felony charge of possessing cocaine, and on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. She was booked in the jail and released Thursday on her own recognizance.

Elude — Hezekiah Cloud Staples, 37, of the 100 block of Pickett Creek Road, Grants Pass. On Thursday, Staples made his initial appearance on felony charges of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, and on misdemeanor charges of possessing greater than four ounces of marijuana, reckless driving and reckless endangering. He was booked in the jail Thursday and released on his own recognizance.

Drugs — Ely Benjamin Smith, 38, of the 500 block of Northwest Fourth Street, Grants Pass. On Thursday, Smith made his initial court appearance on a felony charge of possessing methamphetamine and a misdemeanor third-degree theft charge.

Crime reports

Theft — 700 block of Hamilton Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of theft from a vehicle at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday. Items reported stolen included over-the-counter medication, a DeWalt saw, various hand tools and vehicle dome light bulbs. the loss was valued at $1,700.

Burglary — 1200 block of Corona Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report of burglary to a residence at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday. Items reported stolen included a Victoria's Secret makeup bag, a 32-inch Vizio TV, an Xbox 360 videogame console with two controllers, a Samsung cellphone and a black leather wallet. The loss was valued at $1,129.
