The body of a Philomath woman was found Friday on the Rogue River above Ennis Riffle, according to the Josephine County Sheriff's Office.

Hannah McGuire had been reported missing and presumed drowned Aug. 26 when she tried to swim across the river near Indian Mary Park, a media release said.

Her body was found at 10 a.m. Friday and released to Hull & Hull Funeral Directors of Grants Pass. Her next of kin have been notified, the release said.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports McGuire, 28, went under when she swam toward a rope swing on the north side; attempts to save her by bystanders failed. A search was conducted for three days but without result, the paper says.

McGuire's body was found by passersby floating the river below Morrison's Lodge, about two miles downstream of where she went under, the Courier reports.
