Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

RVUUF welcomes the Rev. Sean Parker Dennison, its new developmental minister, who will give his first sermon at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland.

Dennison is a graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry and was ordained in 2000. He has served congregations in Stockton, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; San Luis Obispo, California; and McHenry, Illinois. He's been posting daily prayers on Twitter and Facebook since 2011. In 2015, he was selected to present the Berry Street Essay at the Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly. Dennison is married to the Rev. Theresa Soto, also a UU minister. The service will include the annual Water Ceremony, a UU tradition. Visitors and congregants are invited to bring a small amount of water from a special place, whether from home or a place visited over the summer. Each person then will pour the water into a large communal bowl and explain why it is special. The combined water is symbolic of the many sources that together form the shared Unitarian Universalist beliefs, values and community, according to a release.

Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

First Presbyterian Church, Medford

Pastor Murray Richmond will speak at both the 8:30 a.m. informal service and the 10:30 a.m. traditional service at 85 S. Holly St. The informal service features more contemporary music led by the Son Shine Singers in a casual atmosphere. The traditional service features a full Chancel Choir and Schoenstein pipe organ music in a formal sanctuary. Both the Son Shine Singers and the Chancel Choir are back from summer break and will sing. There will be a postlude featuring the pipe organ entitled “Prelude in Classic Style” by Gordon Young. Jazz Vespers at First Presbyterian Church, Medford

This month, First Presbyterian Jazz Vespers is pleased to present an evening of jazz featuring the Jeremy Durst Quintet.
