Felony arrests

Rape — Fernado Vargas-Chavez, 54, of the 1500 block of Granite Hill Road, Central Point. Medford police arrested Vargas-Chavez Wednesday on felony charge of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary. He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail Thursday on $250,000 bail.

Coercion — Charles Robert Guenthner Jr., 47, of the first block of Reager Street, Medford. Meford police arrested Guenthner Wednesday on a felony charge of coercion and on misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault, strangulation, menacing and harassment. He was booked in the jail Wednesday and released Thursday.

Drugs — Jennifer Lynn Ostreicher, 30, of the 100 block of Echo Way, Eagle Point. Medford and Central Point police arrested Ostreicher Thursday on a felony warrant charging her with possessing heroin, misdemeanor charge of third-degree theft and contempt, and on misdemeanor warrants for interfering with police and resisting arrest. She was booked in the jail and released Thursday because of overcrowding.

Sex Offender Registration — Kyler Franklin Dennison, 19, of the 3700 block of Calhoun Road. On Thursday, Dennison made his initial court appearance on a felony charge of failing to register his address as a sex offender. He was booked in the jail and released Thursday on his own recognizance.

Sexual Abuse — Brian Lee Petrie, 39, no known address. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Petrie Thursday on three felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in jail Thursday on $750,000 bail.

Burglary — Stephen Gregory Johnston, 57, of the 1000 block of South Pacific Highway, Talent. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Johnston Thursday on a felony charge of first-degree burglary and a misdemeanor charge of first-degree trespassing. He was lodged in jail Thursday on $25,000 bail.

Robbery — Theodore Stacey Johnson, 30, no known address. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Johnson Thursday on a felony warrant charging him with second-degree robbery. He was lodged in jail Thursday on $10,000 bail.

Crime reports

Vandalism — 200 block of De Barr Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a garage floor by burn mark at 7:11 a.m. Wednesday. The damage was valued at $1,000.

Vandalism — 300 block of Bessie Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 9:51 a.m. Wednesday. A scratch was reported on the vehicle's driver-side window. The damage was valued at $200.

Theft — 2200 block of Biddle Road, Medford. Medford police took a report of theft from a vehicle at 12;16 p.m. Wednesday. Two Bendix-King radios and a Nintendo game system were reported stolen. The loss was valued at $4,320.

Vandalism — 2400 block of Finley Lane, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a fence at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday. The damage was valued at $250.

Theft — 500 block of Medical Center Drive. Medford police took a report of a stolen wildland firefighter backpack containing an emergency fire shelter at 4:04 p.m. The loss was valued at $800.

Theft — 1300 block of Center Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report of a stolen rose gold iPhone 7 with marble blue case. The loss was valued at $700.

Theft — 3500 block of Juanipero Way, Medford. Medford police took a report of three stolen drills at 8:02 a.m. Thursday. The loss was valued at $989.
