The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports that a man fired a single shot from an AR-15-style rifle Monday morning but didn't strike anyone.

The incident led to the closure of Table Rock Road for about two hours.

At about 10:11 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a man shooting an AR-15-style rifle in the driveway of a home in the 3400 block of Table Rock Road, according to the sheriff's office.

The man reportedly fired a single shot that was not aimed toward a person. Nobody was injured. The man then allegedly fled the scene in the passenger seat of an older green Ford Explorer that was driven by a woman, according to the sheriff's office.

The shooter was apparently an acquaintance of someone at the home, but deputies could not confirm his identity, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies shut down Table Rock Road for approximately two hours while they cleared the property and interviewed numerous residents. Two people who were not involved in the shooting were arrested on warrants, according to the sheriff's office.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to call Deputy Campbell at 541-774-6800. Refer to case 17-20883.
