Call to Teen Writers: The Medford Teen library is sponsoring a scary story writing contest through Oct. 21. Teens are invited to visit the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., to pick up a writing prompt then write a scary story of 500 words or fewer. Prizes will be awarded to the top three stories and featured at the annual Spooky Story Read-Aloud Oct. 30. Preschool Puppet Theatre: See what Brenda Bear and friends are up to at 10:30 a.m. the second Friday of every month at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. American Brass Quintet: Chamber Music Concerts will present the American Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Music Recital Hall, 405 S.
