Max's Mission, a local nonprofit that battles opiate overdose deaths, will give away free Naloxone, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.
The antidote can quickly reverse the effects of an overdose from heroin and prescription painkillers such as OxyContin and Percocet. Anyone who uses opiates, or has a friend or family member using such drugs, is encouraged to attend and learn about local resources and support.
Max's Mission will hold a fundraising concert from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at RoxyAnn Winery, 3283 Hillcrest Road, Medford, featuring the Fret Drifters, along with David Pinsky & Phil Newton with the Over the Moon Band. Suggested donation is $10 at the door.
Julia and David Pinsky created the nonprofit to honor their son Max, who died of an opiate overdose, and to spread awareness of this life-saving medication. For more information see maxsmission.org.
