As part of the Nationwide Vigil to End Gun Violence, Vision Quilt will host a local vigil at Sew Creative, 115 E. Main St., Ashland, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.
Beginning as a tribute to the victims of the mass killing in December 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, the annual vigil has become a nationwide time of remembrance and gathering to honor all victims of gun violence.
The local vigil will be a time to honor, remember and reflect on all those impacted by gun violence. A discussion will be held at 2:30 p.m.
“The national vigil is an important way to come together in our local communities to honor those whose lives have been affected by gun violence,” says Cathy DeForest, director of Vision Quilt. “Whether you have experienced an injury or loss, or are concerned about the prevalence of gun violence across the nation, everyone is welcome to attend.”
The event is free. Questions about the local vigil can be emailed to Rachel Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about Vision Quilt, see www.visionquilt.org.
