PRESENT STORM HEAVIEST RAINFALL FOR SEVEN YEARS

The heaviest downpour in the Rogue River valley since November, 1910, seems to be materializing with the present storm. More rain has fallen than in any storm since that date — in fact, the first real downpour in seven years. Beginning Tuesday with drizzling showers, a steady rain began Wednesday evening that continued all night. After a day's let-up, Thursday, the rainfall began again in the evening and has continued steadily since. At 1 o'clock a total for the storm of three inches had been recorded, with every prospect of its continuing several days.

In the back country regions the rainfall has been much heavier, tho there has been little run off, the dry ground absorbing it as fast as it came. Bear creek is beginning to rise and the Rogue river is discolored. Another day of storm will make a quite respectable flood.

No material damage is reported, tho country roads are becoming miry.

ASHLAND AGAIN DEFEATS MEDFORD

When the high school team was defeated by Ashland high at Ashland Thursday afternoon by the score of 27 to 0, the local team broke a valley record by going thru the entire football season without scoring once.

Thursday's game, however, was a good contest and was only lost by Medford thru bad fumbles. Several times they were close to the Ashland goal, but without avail. Outside of their fumbles, the Medford boys played a splendid game and showed great improvement. Three of Ashland's regular players were out of the game thru injuries received in the Grants Pass game.

Many Medford people, including high school students, were in attendance of the game, each doing his or her bit in rooting for the local eleven.

NEXT WEEK TO BE DEVOTED TO HOME INDUSTRY

By official proclamation of Governor Withycombe, the week of December 3 to 8 will be Home Industry Week, the idea of course being to impress the buying public with asking for Oregon-made products when ordering, demanding that they receive them and not some substitute.

The United States is in this war to win. Every citizen can find a way to help. Uncle Sam is continually telling about ways that our people may join in aiding the government.

One of the most significant lines being carried to the people is the one reading: Buy Local Products.
