Medford will put on its fourth annual Winter Lights Festival — a free, family-oriented holiday event — Saturday, Dec. 2, at Pear Blossom Park, along Fourth and Bartlett streets at The Commons. Santa Claus and special guest “The Duck” — the University of Oregon mascot — will be on hand to spread holiday cheer. The 15th-annual Candy Cane Hunt — an event geared for very young children — kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Pear Blossom Park stage. “The Duck” will be available for photo opportunities starting at 5 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., Santa arrives on stage, accompanied by the Southern Oregon University Cheerleaders. The jolly visitor from the North Pole will be available for family photo-ops in the lobby of Interior Office Concepts, across from the park.

Live performances include the Medford Parks and Recreation Discovery Preschool, Fusion Force Dancers, and the Jefferson State Choral Coalition. Other activities include City of Medford fire engine and police car displays, jump house (weather permitting) and a coloring contest for children ages 4-12 in the Lithia Headquarters from 3:30-5 p.m.

Man Food will have food for purchase and Starbucks will provide free hot chocolate while supplies last.

The civic Christmas tree will be illuminated at approximately 5:50 p.m.
