I am wondering why there were no letters to the editor in this morning's paper? I hope this is not a permanent thing —  I enjoy the letters!

According to Mail Tribune Editorial Page Editor Gary Nelson, the answer to your question is pretty simple.

"We didn't have any," he said. "During holiday times, often the flow of letters slows to a trickle. Sometimes we don't get any."

On the day we received your email question, Nelson said the Mail Tribune received new letters to the editor and he made plans to publish those in the next day's print edition.

"It's just a matter of supply and demand," he said.

For people interested in submitting letters to the editor, letters must be 200 words or less — or 150 words or less for election or thank-you letters. Letters are limited to one per month.
