A car crashed into a power pole early Thursday morning on North Foothill Road, knocking out power to more than 1,100 east Medford homeowners.

The crash happened at 3:21 a.m. at the intersection with Lone Pine Road, according to a news release from Medford police. When police arrived on scene, they found 24-year-old Ana Castorena standing near her vehicle, uninjured.

Police determined Castorena was traveling south in a 1997 Jaquar XJ6 on Foothill Road when she attempted to negotiate the curves just south of Lone Pine Road, but lost control of her vehicle. The car sheared off the pole, which landed on top of her car.

Police said Castorena was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and lodged her in the Jackson County Jail, the release said. She remained in the jail late Thursday morning on $15,000 bail, held on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and criminal mischief, jail records show.

Power has since been restored the 1,174 customers who were affected, according to Pacific Power.
