Several years ago there was a company that brought a truck to People's Bank in Central Point to shred personal papers. Is there such a company that still does that, and if so, when and where does it take place?

Knock on wood pulp, we haven't seen any upcoming free shred events in our community calendars; however, the company behind that on-site shredding machine is still very much around.

Rogue Disposal's Rogue Shred is the largest on-site shredding service in Southern Oregon, going everywhere from Grants Pass to Ashland to Klamath Falls.  You needn't follow the white truck for certified secure disposal, but you might need to pay a nominal fee.

Rogue Shred offers home shredders a drop-off service using prepaid bags costing $6.50 apiece. Each bag holds about 30 pounds of paper to shred, and you can get them Mondays through Fridays at the Rogue Disposal office, 8001 Table Rock Road, White City, or at American Family Insurance offices in Central Point, Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass.

Fill up the bag with bank statements and other papers not for prying eyes, bring it to any of those locations above, and it'll go into a locked and secured bin to be obliterated within a week.

For home shredders seeking something a little more direct, Rogue Shred has packages bringing that shredding truck to your driveway starting at $99 for once-yearly pickup, according to their website. Rogue Shred also offers a hard drive destruction service that turns old computer drives into inoperable particles for just $10 per drive. For info call 541-779-4161 or see www.rogueshredonline.com.
