Felony arrests

Drugs — Damian Ortiz Jr., 30, of the first block of Almond Street, Medford. The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force arrested Ortiz Tuesday on felony charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing heroin, delivering heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possessing methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail Wednesday on more than $1 million bail.

Vehicle Theft — Angel Sanchez-Gallardo, 26, of the 800 block of West 11th Street, Medford. Oregon State Police troopers arrested Sanchez-Gallardo Tuesday on felony charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehcle and possessing a stolen vehicle. He remained lodged in jail Wednesday on $7,500 bail.

Elude — Robert Upchurch, 30, no known address. Medford police arrested Upchurch Tuesday on a felony charge of attempting to elude police in a vehicle and on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He remained lodged in jail Wednesday on $7,500 bail.

Robbery — Erick Yair Cervantes, 22, of Fort Worth, Texas. Central Point police and Oregon State Police troopers arrested Cervantes Tuesday on felony charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree theft and attempting to elude police in a vehicle, and on misdemeanor charges of menacing, fourth-degree assault, unlawfully entering a motor vehicle, reckless endangering, fourth-degree assault and reckless driving. He remained lodged in jail Wednesday on $500,000 bail.

Robbery — Ashton Shamar Garrett, 21, of Fort Worth, Texas. Central Point police arrested Garrett Tuesday on felony charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree theft, and on misdemeanor charges of menacing, fourth-degree assault and unlawfully entering a motor vehicle. He remained lodged in jail Wednesday on $500,000 bail.

Rape — Caleb Michael Dean Francis, 23, of the 10200 block of West Evans Creek Road, Rogue River. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Francis Wednesday on felony charges of first- and second-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sodomy, and on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in jail Wednesday on $250,000 bail.

Criminal Mischief — Juan Gomez, 48, of the first block of Osprey Drive, Eagle Point. On Wednesday, Gomez made his initial appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court on a felony charge of first-degree criminal mischief. He was booked in the jail and released Wednesday on his own recognizance.

Sex Offender Registration — Robin Stewart Dowell, 64, of the 9000 block of Elk Creek Road, Trail. On Wednesday, Dowell made his initial court appearance on a felony charge of failing to register his address as a sex offender. He was booked in the jail and released Wednesday on his own recognizance.

Robbery — Pamela Diane Shuey-Hendricks, 59, no known address. Medford police arrested Shuey-Hendricks Wednesday on a felony charge of third-degree robbery, and on misdemeanor charges of harassment, third-degree theft and second-degree disorderly conduct. She was lodged in jail Wednesday on $15,000 bail.

Crime reports

Theft — 800 block of Chevy Way, Medford. Medford police took a report of theft from a vehicle at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday. About 10 gallons of gasoline was reported stolen. The loss was valued at $25.

Theft — 900 block of South Central Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report of stolen gasoline at 9:34 a.m. Tuesday. The loss was valued at $60.

Vandalism — 1900 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday. Damage to a passenger-side window was valued at $210.

Vandalism — 800 block of West Jackson Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday. Damage to the front driver-side body and door frame was valued at $3,000.

Vandalism — 1000 block of Pendleton Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday. Damage to a rear tire was valued at $200.

Theft — 400 block of Newtown Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of thet from a vehicle at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday. Items reported stolen included hand tools, a Casio G-Shock watch, a brown leather jacket and medications. The loss was valued at $243.

Theft — 3000 block of Samike Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report of a stolen 42-inch Sanyo TV at 12:11 p.m. Wednesday. The loss was valued at $400.
