September 18, 1948 - November 16, 2016

Christopher "Chris" Thomas Billings, 68, a resident of Hillsboro, Ore. passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home. He was born September 18, 1948, one of two children born to Thomas and Barbara (Kennard) Billings in Medford, Ore.

Chris was raised in Medford, attended Roosevelt Elementary, Hedrick Junior High School, and Medford Senior High School, graduating with the class of 1966. Chris then attended Oregon State University and graduated in 1972 with a mechanical engineering degree.

Chris made his home in Portland and owned and operated his own business, CB & Associates, a commercial HVAC engineering firm that had helped build the downtown Portland US Bank Building as well as many other commercial and public buildings in and around the Pacific Northwest, including the existing Medford Mail Tribune building.

Chris re-met fellow high school classmate, Carole (Lammon) Blackwell when she attended a high school mini-reunion he arranged and sponsored in Medford in 2002. They soon began dating long-distance between Portland and Medford and married April 5, 2006 in Portland. They made their home in Portland until 2015 when they moved to Hillsboro.

Chris was a sports car racer, racing his mustang in the American Sedan Division and, more recently, raced a RALT RT-5. He belonged to the Sports Car Club of America in Portland. He was also a pilot, most recently flying an aerobic RV-4 airplane. Carole and Chris traveled and would often include trips to warmer weather where they could scuba dive and snorkel, typically in the Caribbean, the Keys, and Maui.

In addition to his wife, Carole, Chris is survived by his daughters, Shelley Hilderbrand of Oregon City and Lisa Billings of Beaverton; son, Stuart Billings of North Plains; and sister, Carla Billings.

In lieu of flowers, Carole requests that memorial contributions in Chris's name be made to the Oregon State University SAE (Student Automotive Engineering) Department.

We will be celebrating Chris's life in both Portland and Medford following the Christmas season. Dates, times, and locations will be announced at the beginning of the year.
