February 20, 1939 - November 11, 2016
Jerry LeRoy Bramwell passed away November 11, 2016 at his home with his daughter, grandchildren, sister, and brother-in-law by his side.
Jerry was born in Klamath Falls, Ore. February 20, 1939 to Franklin R. and Ida Marie Bramwell. He married Diane N. Smith August 27, 1961 in Klamath Falls, Ore. On June 13, 1974 they welcomed their daughter, Brenda Suzanne. The family moved to Medford in 1984 after living in both Nevada and California.
Jerry received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. in 1961. He was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After completing his degree, he joined the United States Army and was sent to Fort Sill, Okla. Once Jerry finished basic training, he and Diane moved to Tacoma, Wash. where he was stationed at Fort Lewis until 1965. The couple then moved to Berkeley, Calif. where Jerry completed a master in business administration in 1967 at the University of California at Berkeley. Immediately after receiving his degree he began his career in the timber industry with Fibreboard Corporation. During his 41 successful years in the business he also worked for Louisiana Pacific, Timber Products, U.S. Forest Industries, and others. He retired as president of Medford Corporation in 2008.
In his retirement Jerry enjoyed every moment with his daughter and two grandchildren, his pride evident in his Christmas letter each year, where he would boast about their accomplishments from the preceding year. He was a longtime member of the Rogue Valley Country Club and could often be found on the fairways with the senior men’s group, competing in the Southern Oregon Golf Championship and supporting his alma mater in the Oregon State Beavers Tournament. He was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction and loved animals. He liked to attend local events at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, Oregon Cabaret Theater, Britt Festivals, and he was a regular at every South Medford High School football and basketball game.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Brenda Dufour, of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Rachel and Landon Dufour, of Medford, Ore.; sister, Barbara Switzler, of Medford, Ore. and brother, Robert Bramwell, of Klamath Falls, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Ida Marie and his wife, Diane.
A luncheon memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Rogue Valley Country Club located at 2600 Hillcrest Road, Medford, Ore. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family would like to encourage you to make a contribution on Jerry’s behalf to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or other charitable organization.
