Dr. Marilyn B. Major, 77, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her home in Grants Pass.
Dr. Major was a professor in the School of Nursing, affiliated with the University of Michigan; Indiana University; and most recently, the University of Hawai’i.
Her avocation was sea turtle research. She worked with the Ridley Sea Turtle Project in Port St Lucie, Florida and the National Marine Fisheries Association in Honolulu. The latter volunteer work took her to the uninhabited Northwest Hawaiian Islands, where she studied resident sea turtles, monk seals, and gooney birds.
There will be no services.
Her ashes will be scattered off Kauai at a later date.
