January 1, 1935 - May 7, 2017 

Brookings resident, SFC Lewis William (Bill) Thomas, 82, U.S. Army Ret., passed away May 7, 2017 at Curry General Hospital. He was born January 1, 1935 in Boise, Idaho.  

Bill went to work as a police officer at the White City VA after his retirement from the Army. He was a volunteer for Jackson County SAR for a while, later working various jobs in the valley.  He also drove long -haul truck for a year.  Bill volunteered for the Oregon State Parks for about 12 years as a host and maintenance host.  

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Thomas; daughters, Janice Luton of Medford, Oregon and Jackqueline Thomas of Eugene, Ore.; sons, Jeff Thomas of Sparks, Nevada, Gregory Thomas of Bend, Ore., step-son Louis Heaton of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Bob Thomas of Troutdale, Ore.  

He chose to be cremated and no service will be held.
