September 5, 1925 - July 28, 2017

On July 28, 2017, the Rodermund family lost its beloved matriarch, Patricia Jean Rodermund, to natural causes. She blessed this world for almost 92 years.

Patricia was born September 5, 1925 in Portland, Oregon, to Colbert (Collie) and Imogene Stoops. She was the great-granddaughter of Oregon pioneers who settled here in 1855.

On November 9, 1949, Patricia married the love of her life, Richard Earl Rodermund, in San Diego, California. Richard served his country for 27 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After his retirement they moved to Medford in 1978, where she remained until her death.

Patricia tirelessly advocated for those in foster and nursing homes as a certified long-term care Ombudsman. When not working as an Ombudsman, you could find Patricia delivering meals to those in need through Food and Friends or working with the Southern Oregon Humane Society. She loved golf, bridge, and especially dogs and birds.

Patricia is survived by her children, Steve (Barbie) and Michele (Mike); grandchildren, Doug, Steve, Megan, Elizabeth, and Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Warren, Carter, Vincent, Hannah, Parker, Kensington, Mia, and Sadie. Tragically, she lost her husband to cancer in 2002. We know that they are now happily reunited. As Patricia was known to say, “Your saddest moment is when you breathe your first breath, and your happiest is when you breathe your last.” A celebration of Pat's life was held at Rogue Valley Country Club on Friday. Patricia’s last request was for memorial contributions to be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501.
