October 13, 1923 - July 31, 2017

Ruby Alice Poling passed away July 31, 2017 at her home in Medford, Oregon with loved ones present. She was born October 13, 1923 in Lebanon, Missouri and was the third of sixteen children born to Ralph and Vica Welburn.

The Welburns farmed in Talent, Ore. where the children attended local schools. Ruby graduated from Talent High School in 1941.

In 1942 Ruby married her soldier pen-pal, Warren Eugene Poling. The family made Medford their home after Warren’s discharge from the United States Army, and it was there they reared their children. The marriage lasted 74 glorious years until Warren’s passing in January.

Ruby, a skilled researcher with a meticulous eye for detail, worked for Southern Oregon Title which later became Transamerica Title Insurance Company. It was there that Marvin Madden, Jackson County Clerk, hired her to supervise the recording department, which she did until retirement.

Ruby is survived by her son, Larry (Cynthia) of Eagle Point; daughter, Trudy (Jim Lloyd) of Chiloquin; three grandchildren, Brooks Kime (Dawn) of Portland, Samantha Poling of Eagle Point, and David Poling of Boulder, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Tyler, and Connor Kime all of Portland; one brother, George Welburn of Talent; four sisters, Lily Mason of Anchorage, Genevieve Holinbeck of Medford, Pauline Sanders of Eagle Point, and Earlene DeGarmo of Medford; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and their families.

A memorial service for Warren (January 11, 2017) and Ruby Poling (July 31, 2017) is being held at the First Presbyterian Church of Phoenix on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
