June 27, 1928 - August 31, 2017

Vernon Leroy Orndorff passed onto his eternal home in heaven to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ August 31, 2017, at age 89. He was born June 27, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri, to Alvin and Thelma Orndorff.

Vern’s dad had three children from a previous marriage and Vern was half-brother to Irene, Reuben, and Norvel (Nick). The three siblings preceded him in death. The family continued to grow to include Bill, Dora, Dorothy, Wilma Jean, Jerry, Virginia, Helen, Beverly, and Richard. Wilma Jean and Jerry also preceded Vern in death.

The family moved to California when Vern was a child. While living in California in 1948, Vern married Dorothy Ann Burris. Vern and Dorothy were blessed with three children, Gene, Larry, and Sherri. While in California, Vern worked at a shipyard, a door manufacturer, and in various other industries, but most of Vern’s career consisted of truck driving. The couple moved to Shady Cove, Oregon in 1969 after purchasing acreage and building a home for their young family. Vern eventually retired at age 70 and in 2002, the couple moved to Medford where in 2005, Dorothy passed on to heaven.

In 2006, Vern’s family again grew when he married Kitty Creasey and became stepfather to Richard. Vern and Kitty spent the next 11 years enjoying being married. Family members often commented how they acted like teenagers in love.

Vern is survived by his wife, Kitty; his children, Gene Orndorff (Bev), Larry Orndorff (Deb), and Sherri Orndorff; stepson, Richard Creasey (Deb); five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Harvest Baptist Temple, 2001 N. Columbus, Medford.
