July 28, 1958 - August 8, 2017

Michael Alan Merron passed away August 8, 2017 at the age of 59 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was born July 28, 1958 in Gilroy, California. Mike spent most of his childhood and early adulthood in the Medford, Oregon area. He joined the Marines after high school and was honorably discharged. In the early 1980s, he followed his dad to Alaska where he began his career as an expert painter and drywall finisher. Mike was in his element outdoors hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed and had fond memories of hunting for deer in the Steens Mountains and camping at Skull Creek in Oregon with his dad and other family. His son, Travis, has very good memories of spending time with his dad fishing at Montana Creek in Alaska. This would not be complete without a mention of his love of football. Through good seasons and bad seasons, he was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers. It was a good day when football was on television, especially when the 49ers won.

Mike leaves behind his long-time companion, Jacqueline (Jacki) Barkdull; son, Travis (Erica and grandson, Caiden); father, Charles; brother, Gerald (Carmen, and nephews, Ethan and Austin); sister, Rene Nevin (Jim, and nephews, Creighton and Brandt); and extended family in California and Oregon. His beloved mother, Dolores Lambrecht, preceded Mike in death. A Celebration of Life was held August 18, 2017 in Alaska. On September 9, a family gathering is scheduled in Eagle Point, Ore. Mike will be laid to rest close to his mother at Antioch Cemetery in White City, Ore.
