Patricia Anne Shute of Jacksonville passed away August 5, 2017 at Countryside Home Care in Central Point. She was born October 7, 1926 in Portland, Oregon to Edward W. and Anna Welch Conklin.
The family lived in Metzger, Oregon where she and her siblings attended Metzger Elementary School and graduated from Tigard High School. Pat graduated from Oregon State University in 1948 (Oregon Stater 48er) where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.
Pat had been a substitute teacher in the Medford school system beginning in 1962. In 1964 she started her affiliation with Eagle Point High School as an English and foreign language teacher. She retired in 1991 having taught French, Italian, German, and yearbook. She was a member of Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, Rogue Valley Genealogical Society, PEO Chapter BE, and the Medford-Alba Committee.
Surviving family members are her three children, Patti of Halsey, Ore., Jeff (Kelli) of Medford, and Margaret (Dan) Porth of Salem; grandchildren, Marisa Shute, Ana (Ross) Purdy, Lane (Cassie) Porth, Emily Shute, Alex Shute, and AJ Shute; her only great- grandchild, Kara Martin; and extended family including four nieces, a nephew, and their families. She was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband, Jeffrey Lane Shute, whom she married March 23, 1947 in Metzger, Oregon. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Pat's family would like to express their gratitude to the Covaciu family and their staff at Countryside Homecare. We are thankful for the love and care they gave our mom.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. October 7, 2017 at Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 425 Middle Street in Jacksonville.
