Fern Stevenson, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born December 4, 1926 in Brookings, South Dakota.
She came to Oregon in 1945 and settled in Prospect, where she lived for most of her life before moving to Central Point.
Fern's hobbies included tending to her roses, doing crossword puzzles, her bi-monthly visits to play bunko with her "bunko ladies," and occasional trips to casinos.
She is survived by sisters, Norma Lake, Lorraine Mather, Marleen Sporre, Lois Combs, Francis Fiedler, and Mary Lou Mesloh; brothers, Warren Govenor, Virgil Govenor, and Merle Govenor; sons, Alvin (Kris) Karjala, Barry (Leslie) Karjala, and Michael (Kimberly) Stevenson; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Govenor; brother, Bob Govenor; daughters, Janet Hall and Karen Karjala Thomson; sister, Marion (Nan) Govenor; and great-grandson, Joel Andresen.
There will be a celebration of life memorial at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at the Community Hall in Prospect, Oregon.
