(Constance Tiffany Hand)
May 8, 1946 - October 19, 2017
Mother, wife, sister, friend. Cassandra was intelligent, kind, gracious, and patient. She was quick-witted, well-spoken, funny, and insightful. She loved books, opera, crossword puzzles, African violets, gourmet food, and dry British humor. A progressive thinker and free spirit, Cassandra lived a life packed with adventure, cultivating deep and lasting friendships wherever she went. She leaves friends across the country, from New Jersey (where she was born) to Washington, D.C. (where she attended college) to the San Francisco Bay area (where she had flowers in her hair) to Santa Fe, Hawaii, Eugene, and ultimately the Phoenix, Oregon area.
She is survived by her children, Jessie and Hank (Krishna Martins); and grandson, Will Isbister. A rich, crazy tapestry of extended family, she leaves brothers, Chris, Bob, Mac, Jim, and Michael; sisters, Joan, Holly, Jeanna, and Michelle; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hank (Henry C. Hatcher III); former partner, James Koller; and her mother, Margaret Palmer Thacher.
She touched the hearts of all who met her and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A passionate reader throughout her lifetime, in lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made in her name to the Phoenix Public Library, checks made payable to "Friends of the Phoenix Library," P.O. Box 277, Phoenix, OR 97535.
