October 31, 1923 - October 24, 2017

John C. Ferch, of Talent, Oregon, passed away October 24, 2017 at the Oregon Veterans Home in Lebanon, Ore. He was born October 31, 1923 in Denver, Colorado.

At age 18, John was drafted into the Army Air Force and served in a glider corps in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he returned to Denver where he was a general contractor for residential and commercial construction for many years. He retired to Oregon in 1986, where he kept busy helping, mostly pro bono, home owners and small business owners in repair and remodeling. He moved from the Portland area to Medford in 2001.

John was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was a past member of the Elks, Eagles, and Kiwanis clubs, and volunteered at the VA SORCC.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Talent; daughter, Linda Lander, Portland, Ore.; son, Gary (Donna) of St. Peters, Missouri; stepson, Jeff Pike, Groton, Massachusetts; stepdaughters, Rebecca Trautwein, Santa Cruz, California, Denise Conner, Medford, Ore., and Robin Pike, Talent, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
