Gene Brewer, 95, passed away November 9, 2017 at The Springs at Veranda Park in Medford, Oregon. He was born June 19, 1922 in Caprock, New Mexico to William and Emma Brewer. He was the youngest of eight children. All of his siblings predeceased him.
Gene served in the Army in World War II in the South Pacific from 1940-1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He married Donna Johnson in 1946 in Eugene, Ore. They celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2017. They moved to Camarillo, California where they raised their family. Gene was an electrician in Eugene, Ore. and Ventura County, Calif. for 37 years. Upon his retirement in 1984, they returned to Oregon, settling in Yachats, then Medford in 1995.
Gene was a gentle and loving man with a great sense of humor. He and Donna spent many good years traveling internationally and in the U.S. in their RV. His life-long church family from Camarillo, Calif. was very important to him. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his son, Richard. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, William (Marlene) of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters, Judith McQuone (Mark) of Medford, Ore. and Patricia Bolander of Talent, Ore.; granddaughters, Katie Stanke and Julie Bolander; great-grandson, Michael Stanke; nine step-grandchildren; and eleven step-great-grandchildren.
Gene will be laid to rest at Eagle Point National Cemetery. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. December 8, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Dr., Medford, OR 97504. Pastor Lori Boehning will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
