August 14, 1932 - December 18, 2017
Marilyn Frances Ross, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ December 18, 2017 with family at her side. She was reunited with her beloved husband, Jack.
Marilyn was born August 14, 1932 in Kansas, but lived most of her life in Oregon. She and Jack met in high school at Bend, Oregon, fell in love, and were married during the summer of 1951. They had three beautiful children, Ronnie, Judy, and Larry. They lived in Bend for a few years then moved to Prospect, Ore. for a few more years before eventually settling in to their little home on East Main Street in Eagle Point, Ore. where they lived the rest of their life together until Jack’s passing in 2015. In the spring of 2016, Marilyn moved to Fountain Plaza, a senior living community in Medford, Ore.
Marilyn worked for Eagle Point School District as a cook in the cafeteria for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Jack and Marilyn were longtime members of the White City Church of Christ, where they met many of their lifelong dear friends. They enjoyed traveling and loved camping, especially with family and friends at Wickiup Reservoir near Bend, Ore.
Marilyn enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and loved watching old westerns, basketball games, and tennis matches on TV. She played tennis when she was a girl. She also loved playing Bingo! She loved visits with her grandkids and was so proud of them. She was a strong woman, an absolutely amazing cook, holiday meals were unbelievable, and she was a woman with an unshakable faith. If you knew Marilyn, you know she was a feisty woman, but you also know she had a tender, compassionate heart, especially for people who were hurting or in need. When she spoke about her father she still called him daddy.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Ronald (Earline) and Larry (Cindy); daughter, Judy (Roy); grandchildren, Jennifer, Kevin, Chad (Ginny), and Kara; great-grandchildren, Marissa (Bryce), Bailey, Jake, Vivian, and Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Francis and Della; and her sisters, LaVera and Pauline.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
We miss you Mom, and will always love you.
