Mary Chachere, 95, peacefully passed away in her sleep at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, January 28 at Pioneer Village in Jacksonville, Oregon. She rejoins her husband, Raymond Louis Chachere whom she married December 26, 1947 in Los Angeles, California and who had passed away in December 2004.
Mary was born November 15, 1922 in Lafayette, Louisiana. After raising her children in the Los Angeles area, she moved to Oregon in 1978, where she resided for the remainder of her life. Mary valued her family, her friends, her faith, and her many acts of kindness for others. She spent many years as a volunteer with the Friends of the Applegate Volunteer Fire Department and serving food for Food & Friends. She loved baseball, watching the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners on TV, and traveling to see “her boys” play in tournaments throughout the northwest. The last surviving and youngest of six children, she is survived by four children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be said at 8:00 a.m. Monday, February 5 followed immediately by Mass at 8:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. the same day at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point.
