October 19, 1930 - January 30, 2018
With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Dolores (Dee) St. Martin, a long-time resident of Medford, Oregon. Dee passed away from cancer January 30, 2018 at Bonaventure Senior Living. She was born October 19, 1930 in Minto, North Dakota to Albina and Anthony Maszk. She was raised in Santa Rosa, California until the love of the “Oregon Clouds” had her moving north with her husband and her three children; goldfish; and dachshund, Gretel.
If you knew Dee, you loved Dee; her sense of spirit, her competitive nature, her willingness to take on any adventure was renowned. She had such a passion for golf, bridge, bowling, gardening, and friends. She continued to play bridge like a master until the very end and is in the bowling Hall of Fame at Lava Lanes. Her love of outdoor activities included traveling throughout the US with her husband and the Elks RV group. She wanted to visit every state and see friends and family.
Dee was active in the community first as head secretary and office manager at Medford Senior High School, then through other volunteer activities at St. Vincent de Paul and PEO. During her time at Medford Senior High, she developed many lifelong friends and continued to stay in touch through monthly gatherings of the “lunch bunch.” Additionally, Dee was committed to helping other women in their pursuit of education as an active member of PEO.
A lifelong catholic, Dee loved her Catholic community as well as volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul, both in the office and the thrift store. Patrons and staff looked forward to seeing her sparkling blue eyes and warm smile.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1995. Dolores is survived by her three children, Deanna St. Martin, Christie St. Martin, and Steven St. Martin and wife, Susan; as well as sisters, Harriett McKenna and Rowena Varnadore; brothers, Ralph and Kenneth Maszk; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Carolyn St. Martin. Additionally, Dee has two granddaughters, Courtney Lyell and Camille St. Martin and many nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 517 W. 10th St., Medford, with reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
